Certified pilates instructors
Liz Gurley has worked in the fitness arena for the past 18 years. She turned her passion for running, biking and working with personal trainers into a career. She started working as a personal trainer, spinning instructor and assistant manager at Lakeway Athletic in 1999.
After moves to Arizona and California, Liz returned to New Orleans and added Pilates to her exercise regimen. After Hurricane Katrina she decided to pursue her certification in Pilates and completed her comprehensive certification with Basic Arts and Science International (BASI) in 2007. She has 10 years teaching experience instructing in mat, reformer, tower, and stability chair. She obtained her Pink Ribbon and Special Populations certification in 2009. She works with clients of all ages and genders in individual, duet, or class settings. She enjoys making her sessions beneficial to each client no matter which session type they choose.
Liz works with a range of clients from beginner, intermediate, advanced, plus those who are pregnant, recovering from breast cancer, hip, knee, ankle, shoulder replacements and other surgeries. She also works with numerous clients with spine issues such as scoliosis, spinal stenosis, and those with fusions. She excels being able to work around a client’s injury so that the client can return to a healthy lifestyle and ultimately a better and happy quality of life.
Sarah Bacon Tubre is a certified Pilates instructor. She has been doing Pilates since 2001 and has been a certified instructor since 2008. Sarah has traveled from the east coast to the west coast gaining certifications in Mat, Reformer, Tower, Chair, Arc, Barre, and finally a Comprehensive certification in 2010. These certifications are credited to Balanced Body Certification program.
She is an advocate in the Pilates for Kids program and has given a presentation at the state PE convention on how to integrate Pilates into the classroom for kids with special needs and learning disorders. Traveling the country to obtain certifications has exposed her to many different perspectives in the Pilates world.
She is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance, a national pilates organization. Sarah enjoys working with clients from all backgrounds and all ages. She is always looking for new ways to expand her Pilates practice. She participates in new workshops year round to get the most current and updated methods and techniques to include in her practice. Sarah resides in New Orleans.
